Certifications
A vital part of the sales process is an agreement on quality. Taste, colour, texture and size are among the most important determinants for the desirability of our products, and subject to customer specifications.
Whatever the agreed specifications of our products, our customers can trust Nordlaks to maintain our high standards concerning hygiene, food safety, animal welfare, social responsibility, workers safety and environmental sustainability. Nordlaks is subject to both EU and Norwegian national regulations concerning these matters. In addition, third party certification bodies assess Nordlaks after relevant standards to document best practice.
The QA-team works across all companies in the Nordlaks group, constantly improving our QA systems, managing certifications both from third parties and customers and is in dialogue with our customers regarding quality.
The Nordlaks group, including all our activities from breeding, smolt production, transport, aquaculture production and post-harvest processing applies to the GlobalG.A.P (Global Good Aquaculture Practices) standard. GlobalG.A.P is among the most widely recognized standards for auditing aquaculture producers and processors, and include criteria on relevant aspects including environment, social practices, occupational health and safety, animal welfare, food safety and biosecurity. DNV GL is Nordlaks’ third party certification body for the GlobalG.A.P standard, and the GlobalG.A.P number is 4059883202717.
In addition, our post-harvest processing (producer number N-169) is certified after the IFS Food standard. The IFS Food Standard is a GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) recognized standard for auditing food manufacturers. The focus is on food safety and the quality of processes and products.
Both certifications are important to our customers who work to maintain and document the highest standards on food safety, environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
